# Capture tasks from anywhere

> Get a thought into Sonto without breaking your focus

Set up the capture paths once, and you'll never lose a thought to "I'll remember it later". Everything
you capture lands in your [inbox](/reference/screens), ready to sort during planning.

## On Mac

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set up two global hotkeys">
    Open **Settings → Tasks** and assign two custom hotkeys — one to add a task to your inbox, one to
    add to today. They work even when Sonto is in the background. See
    [Keyboard shortcuts](/reference/other-topics/keyboard-shortcuts#global-hotkeys).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Try capturing with Spotlight">
    Open Spotlight, type `add to sonto`, press <kbd>Enter</kbd>, then type your task. It never brings
    Sonto to the front. See [Siri & Spotlight](/reference/other-topics/siri).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable the Share extension">
    In **System Settings → General → Login Items & Extensions → Sharing**, switch **Sonto** on. Now you
    can send text or links to Sonto from any app's Share menu. See
    [Share extension](/reference/other-topics/share-extension).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## On iPhone

<Steps>
  <Step title="Capture with Siri">
    Say "Add task to Sonto", then tell Siri the name and where it should go — inbox, today, tomorrow,
    this week, or next week.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share from any app">
    Tap the Share icon in any app and choose **Sonto**. The Share extension is always on — no setup
    needed. See [Share extension](/reference/other-topics/share-extension).
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Check>
  You can add a task to Sonto without opening it — by hotkey, voice, or Share — and find it in your
  inbox afterwards.
