# Privacy & Data

> Your ambitions and reflections stay private

Sonto is built so that your plans, reflections, and tasks stay yours. Privacy isn't a setting to find —
it's how the app works by default.

## End-to-end encrypted

Your data syncs through **iCloud** and is **end-to-end encrypted**. Not even the developer can read it.
Your most personal notes — your reflections, your ambitions — stay private.

## No tracking

Sonto has **no tracking, no analytics, and no ads**. Nothing about how you use the app is collected or
sold. There's no Sonto account and no email required, so there's no profile of you to build. See

## Where your data lives

* Your Sonto data lives in **your iCloud** and syncs between your devices. See [Sync](/reference/sync).
* **Backups** stay on your Mac, in a folder only Sonto can write to — nothing is uploaded. See
  [Manage Data](/reference/manage-data).
* You can **export** or **delete** everything whenever you like, from
  [Manage Data](/reference/manage-data).

## Availability

These protections apply on both **Mac** and **iPhone**.
