Projects and Areas in Sonto
Areas vs projects
The difference is simple:- A project is a set of tasks aimed at a finite goal. Projects have an end — a day you mark them complete.
- An area represents an ongoing part of your life, a category that never finishes — like work, personal, or family.
Working inside an area
Open an area and you can:- Add tasks directly to it.
- Add a group and drag tasks into it, to organise things however is useful to you.
- Write notes for the area.
- Pick an emoji — click the area’s icon and choose one that represents it.
Working inside a project
A project works much like an area — groups, loose tasks, and notes — with one difference: instead of an emoji, a project shows a progress pie that fills as you check tasks off. (That’s the trade-off: a pie or an emoji, not both.) When everything’s done, the pie is full — but the project isn’t finished until you say so. Click the pie to mark the project complete. It then disappears from your sidebar to keep things uncluttered, but it’s still reachable through its area.If a project isn’t inside an area and you complete it, a subtle Project archive link appears at
the bottom of the sidebar so you can still get back to it.
Rearranging everything
Pick up tasks, projects, or whole areas and drag to reorder them. Drag a project onto an area to nest it there, or drag it out to make it stand alone. Drop a task onto the Day and it’s scheduled for today.Where to next
