Whether you’re switching to Sonto, keeping a safety net, or sharing a plan, your data stays portable. All of this lives in the Manage Data window on Mac (the Sonto menu → Manage Data).

Bring tasks in from another app

1

Open the Import tab

In Manage Data, choose Import. Sonto can bring tasks from Apple Reminders, Todoist, and Things 3.
2

Pick your source and review

Follow the prompts for your app. Sonto fetches your data and shows you a list so you can choose exactly what to bring in. Importing only ever adds — nothing already in Sonto is changed. See Import from Other Apps.

Keep a backup

1

Let Sonto back up automatically

Automatic weekly backups are on by default, stored in a folder only Sonto can write to on your Mac.
2

Make one on the spot and keep it safe

Click Create Backup before any big change, then Show Backups Folder and copy a recent backup somewhere off your Mac — an external drive or cloud storage. See Manage Data.

Export a view to share or reuse

1

Export as Markdown

Open the day, week, project, or plan you want and choose Export as Markdown. Paste the result into an email, your notes, or an AI prompt. See Export as Markdown.
2

Or copy a link

Prefer a pointer to the live content over a snapshot? Choose Copy Link to get a deeplink that opens the item straight back in Sonto — handy in a note or a message.

Connect an AI assistant

For a two-way path — reading and writing — connect Sonto to an AI tool over MCP. Your assistant can pull data out of Sonto and put new tasks or plans back in. See Using AI with Sonto.
You can bring data in, you have a recent backup stored off your Mac, and you can get content out — as Markdown, as a link, or through an AI assistant.
